Aung San Suu Kyi (Myanmar)


 

Aung San Suu Kyi was born in Yangon, is a politician, and the founder of the National Democratic Alliance.

 

Aung San Suu Kyi married at the age of 27. When she was 43 years old, she decided to leave England and return to Yangon to take care her dying mother. At that time, the people of Myanmar rebel regime initiated demonstrations, the people have suffered brutal repression of the army and the police, the whole country was filled with an atmosphere of terror. Many victims, activists and retired senior military officers, all want  Aung San Suu Kyi to be the leader to fight the government. Due to the impact theory of non-violence by Gandhi, Aung San Suu Kyi decided get involve in political activities.

 

In the same year, she formed the National League for Democracy, and as the chairman and general secretary. NLD quickly developed well. But in 1989, the military government on charges of inciting riots against Aung San Suu Kyi,and arrest her. Over the next 20 years, Aung San Suu Kyi has refused all conditions to deport her and won freedom.

 

Under tremendous international pressure eventually forced the military government held elections in 1990. And Aung San Suu Kyi led the NLD to win the election, but the election results was the military government voided. 21 years later, she was under house arrest off its military government in the apartment. State public Amnesty continued assistance with Aung San Suu Kyi, and eventually she was finally released after November 13, 2010 general elections in Myanmar.

 

After repeated again and again under house arrest and the release of Aung San Suu Kyi, she finally decided to run for president in 2015, but because of her deceased husband and son did not have Myanmar nationality,she cannot run for it. Aung San Suu Kyi admits that she did not feel upset of it, and want her supporters not to be discouraged.

 

After long years of struggling with the government, Aung San Suu Kyi led the NLD won the election in 2015. Aung San Suu Kyi’s courage and perseverance is a important role for the world.
