Zhu Xiurong(1914-2007)

Zhu Xiurong was a famous Taiwan educator who was born in Jiangsu Province in China, and received tertiary and honorable master degree in education in America. In 1946, she accompanied with her husband and moved back to Taiwan. She realized how urgent to develop National Education there after the civil war was over. She soon established a private Kindergarten, yet due to her husband working situation, she then handed the school over to the provincial governor.

 

In 1949 Taiwan had been through a disastrous war. In order to contribute to the restoration, Zhu realized that education was the root of the National prosperity and she began her educational career again. She established another Kindergarten and further expend to primary school and high school, created a 15 year continue study path for student. She worked hard in every part, from choosing the campus site to interviewing teachers. She went to many countries including America, Thailand and Singapore, for raising school funding.

 

She also advocated an idea that learning manner is more important than learning textbook knowledge so she refused to give up any student who was interested in studying. She also refused to label students with smart or not. Over 30 kinds of school clubs were created and students were encouraged to join extra activities. Zhu contributed to groom talented students and boost the society fame.

 

She was award as the Special province excellent president and also received awards from international countries. She was awarded with an International Medal from America, praising her successful educational career.
