Ms Rehana Riyawala is Secretary of SEWA since January, 2012. Ms Rehana Riyawala joined SEWA in 2001 as a finance co-ordinator, her growing efforts with the Organization made her Co-ordinator of SEWA’s in-house management consulting unit wherein she provided technical support to various projects; evaluatory studies, strategic plans, proposals, report etc.
Gradually, Rehana Riyawala was given the responsibility as a co-ordinator of SEWA’s Rural Development Programmes, especially in Kheda / Anand district of Gujarat. In Kheda / Anand SEWA has organized more 1.3 lacs poor women members from informal economy, majority being tobacco agriculture and processing workers; and have also federated into District Association of these poor members. As a senior co-ordinator also Ms. Rehana Riyawala looks after the SEWA’s operations in the Districts which includes activities that strengthens and provides sustainable livelihoods, capacity buildings, micro finance, social security etc. to the poor women members from informal economy.
Ms. Rehana Riyawala has also represented SEWA at various local, national and international platforms on various subjects relevant to the poor women members of Informal Sector.
Ms. Rehana Riyawala is a commerce graduate and before joining SEWA she worked for 10 years with US based company Centre for International Financial Analysis and Research where she lastly served as Senior Research Manager.
