Vice President of Global Programs of Girl Rising

Samantha is passionate about the power of storytelling to create global change. As Vice President of Global Programs, Samantha sets the vision for how to best use Girl Rising storytelling to enable community-led change around the world. She also launched and runs the Girl Rising Innovation Lab – an initiative that develops pilots that test how film can be optimally harnessed for good. Pilots that work are scaled up into the global campaign that has reached over 150 countries worldwide.

Samantha was previously based in China as Managing Director of TEDxBeijing. Before this, she worked as an analyst with the UN World Food Programme in Laos targeting emergency food assistance. Other projects include crafting narratives for a 12-part history documentary, grassroots human rights advocacy in East Africa, and developing inner-city literacy programs in Canada. Graduating as a National Millennium Scholar and the University Gold Medalist, Samantha holds an MPhil in International Relations from the University of Oxford.
