Willis Ho is now 24, she is studying in Lingnan University. She is currently the Convener of the Land Justice League, and once the president of Lingnan University student council, and the former Deputy Secretary-General of the Hong Kong Federation of Students, you could see that during her university period, she nearly spent all of her time for social movements,. She is now working on issues like the development of Northeast New Territories, the high speed rail and land conservation, etc. she also concerned about other issues.
She participated in social movements since the anti-high-speed rail, at that time, there were fewer women that are willing to stand at the front, therefore she immediately attracted the attention of the spotlight, and become famous because of her beauty. People began to call her as a “goddess.” She has gone through a popular days. However, since the beginning of the Umbrella movement, “localism” rises, and people started to attack the female representatives of the left-wing social media, including Willis. Start from that time, she seldom go to the front, because once she go to the occupied area, she will be told with some maliciously abuse, and hear some false rumors.
Instead of being attacked because of the left-wing identity, she was also attacked by her identity of a being a female. There are lots of hurl insults on her appearance, sex life, relationship status, etc. Willis has experienced the up and down, and all these seems to make her become stronger and, more quiet. Once, she wrote on social media, saying:”political struggle make people crash, but also can make them stronger, if you have enough courage, then the only way is to come up with all the courage, up and down has always been the history of melody.”
