Leung Lai Yan is the campaign coordinator of Tin Shui Wai Community Development Network and she planed the project “permaTSW” for the Tin Shui Wai community. The reasons of working in this organization are she wants to have a job which is close to our daily life. She thinks the green life is important for society but not many people realized, the projects in this organization are conforms to her thoughts.
First of all, Leung thinks the education in green life can be more regional and popularity. She said that education does not necessarily in school only and changing not only by youth to start, everyone to start changing in their position that echo will be greater. The foundation of the community activities they held is daily life. They hope the participants will use the skills in daily life after the DIY work shop. Everyone can own their ability and share with others. It is provides them the chance to have the autonomy in life, and they can consider to buy the product in the market or produce the product by their own.
Besides, Leung Lai Yan expresses their organization established good relationships with other community stakeholders, such as the special school. They will cooperate with school to convey the green messages and give the students a chance to plant on the big potting. They taught students to make the tools, and the organization was cultivated their ability as well. Leung understand clearly the good education cannot just inculcate the information into student’s mind, so they are make effort in changing this traditional method in education.
For the challenge of the project, Leung depends on the problem as a solution. The first big problem is the deficiency of funds, it must be a difficult way for their operation but she thinks it is helps them throw in the resources more carefully and accurately.
Leung Lai Yan have not expect the level of influence for the residents, however, she discover some residents willing to stay in their center for make the community publication with them except they participate in the activities. She believes that they can cause the residents to notice and follow them as long as they keep the effort and passion for the community. Her vision is the society to take root of permaculture and autonomy as a long-term development, and people can understand themselves, striving for what they believed, to seek their position. There are a hundred flowers bloom in society.
